Hot Water Heater And Modification Questions

Hello

Just took delivery of a FR3 30DS and have started some modifications and have a couple of question. Your assistance would be appreciated.

I want to extend the electric hot water switch from the outside to the inside. I under stand that the wire should be 14 guage. My question is, is there anything special about the switch or can it be any 12Amp or higher 12v toggle. If anyone has removed the switch and extended the wiring to the inside with a new switch pictures would be appreciated.

Suggestions would be appreciated on how to be able to add a screen to the bedroom window and to be able to use it as an opening usable window.

Has anyone drilled thru the exterior wall to add an porch light? I have already mounted a junction block near the house batteries and wired the switch but I am concerned if there is anything in the wall on the other side of the pantry I need to be concerned with when drilling.

Thank you for you assistance

Howdy Paul. First thing is the switch outside is not 12 volt, it's 120 volt if you have the Suburban water heater. See this schematic

There are many threads on here, where members have done something similar. However, it is usually easier to put in a switched circuit to the 120 volt power supply to the water heater, and just leave the outside switch in the on position....and use an inside switch to cut on/off power to it.

This thread here has a couple of different links in it to this mod done by different members. It may help give you ideas.
