Kitchen lights make TV antenna go out

I have a 2015 FR3 30DS. I just returned home from a camping trip and while on this trip the weirdest thing happened. When we were watching TV using only our antenna if we turned on the main over head lights in kitchen/dining area, the TV would start acting up as if we were in bad weather. As soon as we turned the lights off again, the TV would instantly clear up. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Assuming the fixtures are LED. This is a somewhat common problem. Most LED fixtures use LED modules that contain RF driver components as well as LED chips. Many of the low cost ones use inferior grade components that produce RF interference that can effect the TV and FM signals. You can replace them with incandescent fixtures or good quality LED fixtures.

replace that LED light housing with a better quality unit that does NOT give RF (radio frequency) interference...

this is a good place to look for a quality replacement...

If we have fringe TV reception just about every LED ceiling fixture in my rig will cause the TV to glitch.
Strong antenna or cable TV no problem.

We put up with it because I don't want to replace 7 ceiling fixtures with no real guarantee they won't cause a problem.

As the trailer is 4 years old and this just started to happen, if you have LED's or Incandescent, I'd look for a possible bad fixture and replace it. Take each one by one, disconnect and see if TV clears up.

RF interference: In the early production of LED lights & related products there
was no filters built into the LED lights. The lights emitted a frequency that gets
into the circuits of the TV. You almost have to replace all your LED light with a newer light that has built in Filters.
One way to find the light that is causing the trouble is to start with each LED
light by turning it off & on to isolate the one that is causing the problem. When you find the one the interferes with the TV, replace it with a newer production
LED light that is labeled to not cause TV interference.

Each light fixture has its own switch. Turn them off one at a time and see what happens.

we have two ceiling lights in the bathroom, they both on/off with one wall switch, but also have individual switches at the lights, ... we've discovered that one light will affect one channel and the other light will affect a different channel, ... aggravating for sure, but mainly because sometimes we'll forget about that and fuss with a no signal problem for awhile before remembering it, ... but knowing the "work around", we just live with it, because as stated already, changing out one LED for another LED, is a shot in the dark, it may solve the problem but it may not, ...

Hmm. On my new 2019 Grey Wolf when the furnace comes on it stops TV reception through the antenna. When the furnace goes off, back comes the reception.

The efficient LED lamps do, indeed, incorporate a switched mode power supply that operates at radio frequency. The inefficient LED lamps that are designed to go into 12VDC sockets simply use series resistors for current limiting. They operate on pure DC and won't interfere with anything. I can guarantee it.

Also worth noting is many tv channels are moving which spectrum they transmit on. You would have to rescan for this to be the problem.

That and the PCM dimmers for LEDs can also introduce issues that previously were not occurring....do your LEDs dim and did you recently change the brightness.

just my 2 cents, being a auto technician i worked on a car that the owner replaced his brake light bulbs with the LEDs, every time he hit the brakes the radio would loose signal, problem solved

What's your point?? I have 2 cheap led bulbs that simply plug into the old bayonet base ceiling fixture over my table. These indeed do not interfere with the TV. My problem and probably the OPs problem is the pancake LEDs that are everywhere else in my rig. They do interfere and I have no way to know if replacements will also interfere without a real world test which co$ts time and dollar$. So I shut off the lights when we're ready to scan or settle down and watch the Tele...
As mentioned, if the signal is strong it's not a problem anyway.
