Magic Chef Microwave Issue

2015 28DS

Magic Chef MCO160UBF

Microwave vent fan and inside light quit working. Panel works, carousel turns and microwave heats. Lights underneath work.

Any idea folks?

It's so cheap better to replace with a better MW.

The only thing is trying to get it out...

It sounds like you've lost the 12 volt power supply to the unit.

Unit runs on 120V.

Unit is pretty serviceable, but all screws are covered with panels. Looks like they installed the entire kitchen around the microwave

If you are referring to the fan and light inside the unit then you are correct, 120 volt. The fan and light in the hood underneath are 12 volt. There might be an internal fuse, but I'm not sure. Sorry.

Both fans are out, but only inside cabinet light is out. Light underneath works...

Go to Walmart and get one that fits into the hole. install new trim if you need to. Or no trim.

I would check with the online companies, Repairclinic.com or Appliancepartpros.com if you are handy.Great companies! Both have online help. find out what the part will cost then make the decision if you want to change it out.
That Micro cooks better than the commercial one I have in my kitchen at home!

Took out the microwave and tossed it. Bought a Kitchenaid, and almost done installing. Converted the exhaust fan to OUTSIDE!!! That is an option on virtually every microwave, including the Magic Chef originally installed by FR. Still don't understand why any RV manufacturer would have a (propane) stove range exhaust recycled right back in your face while cooking...

Plus the look on DW face while your on a ladder cutting a 3 1/4" x 10" on the outside of the RV is priceless.

See pics. Very excited exhaust is now outside.

Our 28DS where the microwave is in the slide is some very tight workspace! 30DS would be easier...

Will do a write up
