Smile New FR3 owner

We picked up our FR3 30DS from Total Value RV in Elkhart on Thursday. Stayed in their RV spot while they addressed a couple issues. Everyone at Total Value was so friendly and helpful which really helped since this is our very first RV. Drove home to Princeton Indiana on Saturday, great 325 mile trip. Other than the TV coming open twice ( Indianan roads are terrible) we had a fun trip. Many firsts for us. A little time to get some projects done before first long trip in June. Happy with our choice of coach and dealer.

Welcome to the forum. This place has solved many problems for me. Make it where you go before you visit dealer with problem or start a do it yourself project!

Gongrats Freedom! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new coach. They aren't without issues (none of them are), but the folks on this forum are really helpful in fixing things and finding unique solutions to shortcomings.

What were some of your minor issues? We are picking up our new FR3 25ds from total value rv next week, we are hoping not to have any problems

PS, the dealers say they do a 200 pt inspection prior to a customer picking it up?.....
Do they really perform this inspection and if they do how come there are still issues?.?

walkerm25 Total value checked everything and the PDI went very smooth. Josh led me through the whole RV, my first RV ever but he answered every question, showed me how everything worked. A couple things twice. During PDI the front shade was slightly crooked, fixed by Josh. Missing window screen, drivers side, replaced. Vent fan slightly touching filter, I didnt even notice it, Josh adjusted it. We stayed overnight on the RV pad at total value, free. In the morning I heard a noise outside, went out and saw legs coming out from underneath RV. Josh had noticed a hydraulic leak on rear jack on his way into work! He replaced jack and tested thoroughly. No worries with total value, they know RVs and they will make you happy.

Staying on site for two days was great for neewbies like my wife and I. Total Value said we could stay as long as we wanted. The reason the jack leak didnt show up at PDI was check of level system worked great, did it a couple times but with jacks extended overnight ( not for a short period like PDI) the leak was evident. We ran everything, showered, used Total Value to dump tanks, TVs AC micro, heater, slides, windshield wipers ( we had a huge storm one night, no leaks anywhere). I even practiced backing onto pad several times after they closed and there was no traffic. We had a great experience, planning to swing by Total Value just to say Hi in June on our first major road trip.

I bought our 2015 FR FR3 30DS (JeNNY) from Shorewood RV in Anoka MN. This is my 2nd RV bought from them with my 1st one being a used class A. We picked JeNNY up on like 2/15 and I've played with the RV out in the yard since then and have taken it on some 30+ mile drives. Everything is working great. I don't have a 30amp plug in here so the only thing we haven't tested is the AC. Plus being up here in Minnesota were still walking around with our jackets and Boots on up here eh. We leave in a few days on our 1st trip with JeNNY for Moab UT. So we will see how it goes. I pull out on this trip knowing that l have bought JeNNY from the finest RV dealer in the state of Minnesota. My wife and l have become friends with our salesmen over the years, and we have even invited him along on our trips. As we travel to Moab we will be on the CB, more than likely ch 19, if you see us give us a shout, at least wave a hand, and we will do the same.Click image for larger version

Welcome, we picked our FR3 25DS (nickname Lady Bug) on 5/19/15, not hit road yet, but we have setup at local casino, done a lot of dry run simulations, We just bought a tow dolly ($500), new tires, paint, etc, we are going to Black Hills 1900 mile round trip, use toad to see Rushmore, Devil's Tower, and maybe Custer BF

New FR3 owners

We are on our first long trip (cleveland > black hills > mt Rushmore > Crazy Horse > Denver so far w/ Devils's Tower > Cody > Yellowstone > Glacier > Thunder Bay > Wawa > Sault St Marie ON > Cleveland to go), and all we can say is this is one awesome house on wheels.

The only mishap (so far) occurred while driving into Mt R, the RV lane was closed and we had to use the auto lane; our street side mirror is now safely ensconced inside while we figure out how to reinstall...

We don't have a toad and are getting 11 mph so far w/ the expectation of lower mileage in the mountains (no surprise).

This is a long way of saying welcome aboard; you're in for some wonderful fun!

H3N. We will be Heading the opposite way in a few weeks black hills crazy horse mt rush and Devils then to Cody and yellow then back to Gillette. . I have tons of questions about access and parking at these parks. After your trip pleas message me so I can pick your brain. I'll be pulling a small swivel wheel trailer with two motorcycles.

Technorick - parking at Mt Rushmore was easy as there is now a large parking structure across from the main entrance. Lots of room for any type of RV. Parking at Devil's tower was another matter; parking for RVs of all types is limited to the side of the road as one exits the parking area next to the ranger station. Definitely some to write to one's Senator about as a national park should have more parking opportunities... If there's a way to take a 4 or 2 wheeled vehicle there's plenty of parking. We stayed at the KOA there because it afforded splendid views of the Tower from the campsite. Will provide update after our YS adventure.

Thanks. At Devils tower we are overnighting at the KOA and taking the motorcycles.
I was more concerned about Mt rush and the bent mirror cuz the rv lane was closed!

For crazy horse I assume a huge parking lot and for yellowstone we planned on staying at a camp about 10 miles east of the east entrance at Cody and riding into the park. However as we are visiting yellow multiple days I was wondering if we were to take the 30 ft coach what the roads would be like.

Of all the info I can find on yellowstone there is very little on RV access.

We will be approaching from the east from Wall SD. And routing to badlands to my rush and crazy horse then up to Devils via Sturgis.

The roads in Yellowstone are well paved but, I would not recommend site seeing in an RV. JMHO

Update on our first trip. 3,500 miles so far and everything working well. Started doing 7 marathons in a week in 7 states from Ohio to MN. then drove across to Seattle for a marathon, then down to CA. to visit our daughter for a week. Then we will go to Oregon for a marathon and then back home to IN. Quite a shakedown trip, especially since it's our first RV. We are happy with our 30DS.

How did your FR3 coach do pulling the Jeep on the trailer to Moab?....
We are heading there in the morning and we're towing the Jeep with our 1-ton dulley and the jeep in a enclosed trailer.
I'd like to pull the jeep with our 30DS sometime, but not sure how the V-10 will do...

JeNNY did just fine pulling our Jeep on our trailer. It was quite a pull up and over the Rockies west of Denver but the V10 did a good job. On the open roads from Denver to Minnesota l hardly knew the Jeep and trailer were back there. On the way out to Moab I used the tow/haul mode, but on the way back home I didn't use the tow/haul mode and l felt it was better not to use the tow/haul mode.
Have a great trip! Would love to see any pics you wish to post.
