I will be doing my 1st oil change at less than 1,000mi only because if I don't I'll have over 4,500mi on the factory oil before we get back from our 1st trip. I'm going to use Mobil 1 synthetic oil. My dealer told me to get in my 1st oil change at 3,000mi but I've always been one to hit the first few oil changes early...

Mike I don't know what the factory used for oil. But I use Mobil 1 in all my cylinders. JeNNY will get the same. I feel is a good oil.

Agreed. Wouldn't use anything else on my motors. I have Audi, Honda and Ford. I use it in all of them and will use it in the FR3. Any one know what size of K&N filter they take?

don't know what that is Wayne. Look at a 33-2365 K&N. Or remove the old filter and call 1-800 858-3333

Thanks Mike. That's was my attempt at a pic of the sticker on the front of JeNNY's air box.
I changed the oil on JeNNY today. I was a little shocked at how dark the oil was with only 750miles on it. Now JeNNY has 5W20 Mobil 1 synthetic oil in her with a FRAM oil filter spun up.

Good move to the Mobil 1 only bad part was using the Fram filter, next time try the Mobil 1 filter, WAY better filtration and better construction. Cut the old Fram open and see how cheaply made they are now.

Never mind. They are made by Champion Industries.

This is a quote from an engine forum.
that's completely normal. There are detergents in the oil that clean up all the soot and carbon deposits in your engine. The oil turns black because of the deposits it has cleaned from your engine. If it didn't turn black, that would mean either, A) your engine is completely clean (never going to happen), or B) There are no detergents in your oil, and the deposits are still clinging onto your engine parts..

Well in about 7 weeks we take off for Moab Utah and round trip will be about 3,000mi. When we get back from that trip I'll change JeNNY's oil again to ready for out next trip in the early fall. What's the filter number for the Mobil oil filters? What about WIX filters, they are pretty good l hear.

wayne Wix is a good filter. They make all the Napa filters. Any top line of the line filter is good. Sample Napa Gold not silver.
