Oxidization

So...I'm getting ready to wash/condition the roof, taking black streaks off (AWESOME followed by some wax, perfect), the whole friggin' top cap from the top of the top running lights back to the start of the roof is completely oxidized. I have had my coach for 11 months, bought "brand new", the attenae is rusting as well. The dealer is close to the beach, Mike Thompson RV in Fountain Valley, but this seems odd to me. I also paid extra for the paint sealant that comes with a 5 year warranty, so ?????????? Just another thing to add to the list.

Hey Antone, I live in Huntington Beach, CA and store my MH in Costa Mesa. I will check for oxidation next time I take it out. I was planning on washing it before my next trip, anyway.

I've had mine for 18 months and have the same problem. I've buffed it out twice so far, but it keeps coming back.

Oxidization

I sent photos to Kevin Stratton, FR3 warranty manager. Looks like they're going to fix it. I'm still within the first year, by 15 days as luck would have it.

I've seen a lot of the same corrosion. Specifically the cabinet near the battery access. The latches were completely rested on initial inspection. They repair them but now my door is falling off it's hinges and smashed on the backside from the repair. That's the latest on my list. I'm finishing my solar so I will check my front cap as well.

That antenna is made by Jensen, or should I say sourced or imported by Jensen from our little buddies over the ocean. Put a new one on there and it will rust @ the spring in about 90 days. That has been my experience with 3 of those antennas and we live about 175 miles from the closest saltwater.

Front cap was removed and repainted. It looks good, but time will tell.

No oxidation, but your rust issues I DEFINATELY SHARE! My locks locked up on one of the outside cabinets when I tried to open it. I had to shove a screw driver in the lock with pair of plyers and turn until the whole mechism turned to open. Took the lock off and need to replace, still does not lock yet.

I just washed and applied a protective coating to my roof. I've been told by a local RV repair guy, whom I trust, that We should hit the roof with a protectant at least twice a year if it's sitting in the sun. Just spray it on and rub it around with a with a rag. It's fairly thick stuff. Here's a picture of the product I use. Click image for larger version

I live in the Midwest and my baggage door latches are corroded too. Have any do-it-yourselfers out there found an aftermarket baggage door latch and done a swap out? Thanks for any pointers.

I don't like going up on the roof of my 15 30DS. It feels like the roof will cave in with every step.
