Poll: @ Fill-Up, How many gallons can you add after shut-off?

Poll: @ Fill-Up, How many gallons can you add after shut-off?

My FR3 has a 2017 Ford F53 chassis with a 80 gallon fuel tank. When I fill it up, I can slowly add 8 to 14 gallons of gasoline before it is full.

How many gallons do you add after first shut-off?

I do not over fill the tank. There is a carbon filter in the system that will saturate and go bad. This in turn causes the vehicle to run like crap. I learned this the hard way on my car.

A friend of mine's F150 used to do that. We could put in 15-20L after the click. My 2014 Silverado can put in only a couple of hundred mL. Depends on the vehicle, fill tube, pump "sensitivity" and outside temp in my experience.

My Dad had a rural Gas Station before self-service. I pumped a lot of gas where the customers would ask me to top it off.

I have been topping off my 95' Ford Taurus since 1995. I topped-off my two former Ford class C motorhomes. I also top off my 1990 Ford Ranger. I never had a problem.

I only top off my FR3 just before hitting the road. It takes about 15-20 minutes extra time but my display goes from 480 miles to 580 Miles to Empty.

I understand that gasoline will expand as it warms up. For that reason I always wait until I am going to be driving 100 miles or more before topping off.

Charcoal canister is designed to take the fumes from the gas tank back to the engine. This is only done if the engine is running.
