Propane Used Up

Last month we traveled through New Mexico, Arizona and Souther California where the temps were typically in the high 90s-low 100s. We started tripping the circuit breaker when using the A/C, and a fan and maybe due to power surges at the RV parks so we switched the fridge from electric to propane for the duration of the trip and never had another tripping problem. for the remainder When we started the trip, the propane tank was about 2/3-3/4 full.

When we parked the MH about a month ago, I failed to switch the fridge back to electrical and today discovered the propane tank had emptied. Is it possible that the fridge used up the available propane all by itself or should be be looking for other issues in addition to refilling the propane tank.

What size is your Propane tank, Also what was your setting on the refer? How long was the trip? Most refers do not require a lot of propane.

I have no idea how big the tank is...we have a 2015 FR 3. According to the internet it may be 24 gal? I though propane was measured in pounds. Anyway, it was only 2/3-3/4 full when we left. As for the settings, the fridge has on, off, propane or electrical. Hmmm. We were gone 15 days and it ran on propane probably for 12 or 13 days plus the 35 days it's been parked.

I'd be looking/smelling for a leak somewhere. We run our fridge on propane all the time. We just spent 28 days on the road and still have just over a 1/2 tank remaining. This includes using the water heater also (propane only model). Started with a full tank. As said. The fridge doesn't use much propane.

Your propane tank is 24 gal. Propane weighs 4.2 lbs per gallon. Your tank will not fill to max capacity so expect about 20 gals from empty.

On to the Q; If you left your gas on and your fridge on gas you would have also had to leave you battery switch on for the fridge to run. (or had it plugged in to shore power which would beg the Q why was the fridge on gas.) So, you would have had a dead battery bank to boot but you did not say that. Sooo, you most likely have a leak. That is a serious safety issue so my suggestion is that you find it before use. Also, since you did not say that your LP alarm went off, I would look outside first. You can pick up a bottle of leak detector at just about anyplace that fills tanks.

Edit: Tripping the breaker is a problem in and of itself. A/C and Fridge are seperate circuits. I hear someone calling Houston...
