So, after getting blown all over the road and being exhausted after driving long distances in the last 4 months of owning our 25DS, I started looking into some fixes. I found the link to the "McKinley" free fix and started reading up on it to see what I thought.
Cheap Handling Fix - iRV2 Forums
Before I bought a $500.00 steering stabilizer (Basically a glorified expensive shock), I thought I would try the free fix first. I did it this morning in about 40 minutes - both front and back. After taking it out for a quick drive on both highway and 2 lanes, I immediately could tell a difference just from leaving my 'hood. The 'McKinley' fix certainly tightens up the suspension and cuts down on both the 'rolling' and the 'pushing' you feel when getting passed by trucks and cross-winds. It makes the RV feel like you're driving a large truck instead of a big RV and makes you the RV feel like it's 'settled' down. I didn't feel the need to "white-knuckle" it while driving and was a lot more comfortable to me.
Now, of course this was a quick drive but after seeing all the miles logged by others after this fix, I'm confident that I'll be able to drive longer and not feel so beat up after getting to my destination.
An easy fix in no time at all with great results! Do it before spending the money on a stabilizer! I'll do a few trips this Spring and see if I still think I need a steering stabilizer but this was a great first step!
