Recalled Recall Stairs

Steps broke in 2013 and were fixed under warranty. Also received the recall notice in Feb 2016.

I didn't bring it in until the steps broke a second time. This week, rv shop called to say the steps used in the recall are about to be recalled and to wait for another letter when they come up with a new fix

Mine are tied up with bungees

My stairs on my 2016 32ds broke also, I have not recieved a recall notice yet. But a weld broke on our. Dealer said he has had a few stair breaks. They call in a welder and reinforce, covered under warranty.

Ours happend 8 months in to owing it. I have 4 kids running in and out on them, I just assumed they broke it. But dealer said these are supposed to be rated at 300lbs and he has seen allot of them broken. Allot of us RVers have a wide circumference, but not 300lbs circumference. I think FR should extend the warranty for 3 years on those steps.

Strange that I'm the only one that got the recall notice But maybe its only a problem with the younger year model

Mine was a 10,000 lb bolt that sheared off. I miss Pittsburgh steel!!!

Need to fire up those old mills and crank out some quality iron!

On our models, the break is occurring in the metals framing where the stairs attach. The metal is shearing, not just the weld.

This was my Lippert Rep

Please call the RV service center with this case #. They can then call us to order the parts.

I honestly do not know. You may have to check the website and technically you would have received a letter. But I'm sure things change and not everyone gets their letter

The recall I believe is only for 2014 FR3 models. If you have a 2016, there's also a parking brake recall. Just search for your model year and then FR3 seems to work best.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2014/F...52520RIVER/FR3

NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V798000
Manufacturer Forest River, Inc.
Components EQUIPMENT
Potential Number of Units Affected 9,687
Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014 FR3, 2009 Forest River Encore, Sportscoach Elite, and Aurora, 2008-2009 Cruise Master, 2012-2015 Aviator, 2007-2014 Georgetown, 2007-2009 Legend, 2008-2012 Ridgeview, 2008-2014 Cross Country, 2010-2014 Coachmen Encounter, 2009-2014 Pathfinder, Solera, Mirada, Prism, and Pursuit motorhomes. The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert-brand Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. These steps use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. This bolt may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may be unstable.

Remedy
Forest River will notify owners and dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, free of charge. Forest River issued an interim notification to owners on January 7, 2016. The recall began on March 3, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service number at 1-574-389-4600. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-11102015-0109. Or owners can contact Lippert Components at 1-574-537-8900.
