refrigerator problem

My refrigerator is acting up: won't keep things cool during the day when it's hot outside. The thermometer reads 60 to 70 degrees in the refrigerator when it gets to be 90 or so outside, and the ice in the freezer starts going soft (though not completely melting).

I've been working with a repair guy to resolve the problem. Had him put in a fan to vent out the roof, but that doesn't seem to have done any good. He's contacted Dometic who say it must be the way Forest River installed it--poor ventilation. Meanwhile, I'm buying food pretty much by the day. The few items I keep in the frig are fine at night, but in the day I move them into the freezer to keep them cool.

Now I've asked the repair guy to get a new thermistor and replace the old one. See if that helps. Anyone else have problems with the refrigerator in hot weather?

Also, my air conditioner is so loud that I can barely hear the TV when it is on. I thought maybe that's the way RV air conditioner were; then I went into someone else's RV and their unit was quiet. Is there something wrong with my air conditioner or is this just a loud unit? Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Barbara, are you under warranty? Have your dealer take care of fixing and the cost.

Right under the AC unit (inside) is a louver to dump cool air directly into that room instead of all over the unit.

Brother Les,

Oh, I guess I have left that open thinking that was the thing to do. I'll try it with the louver closed.

If you mess with the fridge 'out of warranty' it may not have any 'warranty' through the dealer down the road......

none of my business, just my thoughts.

You will get more air out of the other vents and cooler in more of the unit with that closed.

OK, to help what model and location (slide out or roof vent?) is the fridge?
Without that information, troubleshooting is darn near impossible.

Are you level? (left to right and front to back?)

To help your "handyman," here is the official troubleshooting manual. If he has never seen it, I would be "concerned."

I also included a "how it works" diagram and another article to help you.

Thanks for the suggestion re Dinosaur thermistor and for the reference materials. I'm going to try another fan, this one in the back of the refrigerator. If that doesn't work, I'll look in the Dinosaur thermistor.

Oh, the refrigerator is a Dometic DM2652RBX.

Thanks.

The frig and MH are both quite level. And, the frig works fine at night. Just can't handle the heat of the day (80's and 90's).
