Shelf next to bed on 30ds

When you look at a drawing of the FR3 30 ds, there appears to be a walk around bed. However, in reality there is a carpeted shelf that runs 3/4 the length of the bed on the side closest to the back wall. That would force the person on that side to crawl to the end of the bed to get out.
Please tell me how you all deal with that, esp in the middle of the night when you are trying not to wake your spouse.
Thanks in advance.
PS
The GT3 30 x3 has the same shelf- according to the salesman -during a dealer visit and we told him that is a deal breaker.

I really don't think it's a shelf but it's a part of the outside storage compartment . We have the same issue and it's hard to makeup the bed.

Funny .... probably the one thing we dislike the most about the layout.

We put a portable bed rail on that side which makes getting out of bed a snap. The lower part of the bed rail slides under the mattress so the handle above the bed stays in place when you scoot a bit to get to the spot where you can dangle your legs over to the floor. Works for us.

It is a pain to make the bed. To change the sheets I slide the mattress toward the drawers to make it easier. (slide out obviously) As for getting up in the middle of the night, I scoot down and get up. My wife sleeps much deeper than I do and it seldom wakes her up.

We agree. Its a pain to get up at night, as well as making the bed on that corner. We're sleeping on the storage compartment, so really no way around it. Maybe one of the other floor plans works better for you. For us, its ok. We can still use the bed while underway or with the slide in, which some of the other floor plans you can't. Hence the reason we picked the 30DS floor plan over the others.

Give your partner a sleeping pill... they won't hear you trying to slide in/out of bed... maybe switch sides? It's a pain in our 30DS.

I didn’t want the fr3 30 day because of this shelf. So made a deal with my husband. We either look at another motorhome or we buy this one and you sleep on the inside lol. He sleeps on the inside
