Slim Line AC unit

Does anyone have any experiences or recommendations for changing out the factory AC with a "slim line" unit? I need an additional few inches of clearance to get into my indoor storage. Right now, I am deflating my tires to get in and out....not fun. My dealer does not have any good suggestions. Thanks.

I don't mean this to be funny, but could you increase the height of your indoor storage? It appears you only need a few inches or so.

Just out of curiosity where are you from?
I'd possibly be interested in your take off.

Of course anything is possible and I could raise the 12' opening but it would involve removing a course of block without loosing the parapet, new steel lintel, new custom garage door, etc... That option is thousands of dollars and I was hoping to just swap my AC unit out. I am in ohio.

As long as your roof opening is the same it would be a piece of cake to do.....Then sell the old one to turbs.....

That is what I thought but my dealer said that it was more complicated because of the thermostat and the ducting. I am just curious if anyone has done this yet and what was their experience and what unit did they use. Thanks.

If you use the same brand, Dometic or Coleman the stat and ducting would be the same. I would call and talk to a person at Airxcel first and find out. There shouldn't be any problem at all. Your dealer just didn't want to do it. Take it to one of there service centers. They change it in a hot minute.....

Take a look at the new Dometic Brisk II AC unit. I believe it is smaller all around but do not know exactly how much. I have called Dometic directly and they were extremely helpful.

Here is a link to the brochure.

check out page 2 of the brochure
Hope this helps. Good luck and let us know how it works out.
