Steps Broke!
My steps broke this morning while I was going in carrying a load. They broke while I was on the third step and sagged about 4 inches, dumping me on my head, not hurt, just a few scrapes and I'm glad that only my dog witnessed it. He would never laugh at me. I called Coach-Net and they said they would send someone out to fix it, BUT they don't do warrantee work and would have to pay for parts and labor. Their technical advice was useless, the tech had no clue what to tell me. I don't fit under the skirt, so can't really look at it. I will call the dealer on Monday morning and get the runaround again. They just might get it delivered into their show room at 60 MPH.

When was your rig built? Is it an FR3 30DS. What brand are the steps? My steps broke on my first trip. The bolt that the gear rotated on Sheard off. On my trip I stopped by Elkhart and the upgraded my steps to kiwi which are a lot stronger. That was about a year ago, no problem since.

The Lippert steps on my 2010 Flagstaff signature ultralite are junk. Repaired them with bolts instead of rivets. I feel that these are bad enough that there should be a
factory recall.

My steps broke at the rivet as well. I bought bottom stair supports now to lengthen the life of them. Going to put together a hardware kit so I can repair while on the road.

The ones on the previous camper broke at the rivet. I too fixed them with bolts, much better. I use a step support now to help alleviate some of the pressure and hopefully make them last a bit longer. Also helps with movement of camper going in and out.

My contention all along with the FR3 is that the Kwikee 3 step entry is not strong enough and sag every time you step on the bottom step. I went as far to email Steve, the warranty manager for the FR3 to ask if they would replace them with a 2 step. I would pay for the difference. That was 2 weeks ago. Have not heard a word back!!!! So much for customer service. I've even considered cutting off the bottom step. When I use the middle step there's not as much sag. Unfortunately, cutting off the bottom step would void the warranty. After what happened to Mandoholic, I might just say the hell with the warranty.

Seems you're correct stephanfr3. I see a new name on their contact site. Guess I'll send off another email and see if the new person will respond.

Add another to the list of busted steps, rivet is the common weak point. Like the others I replaced with a bolt and a stair support. Cheap junk in my opinion.

I finally got under the steps and the bolt that holds the gear on broke. It's a half inch bolt, but seems to be rusted halfway through. Once I got the motor off, the gear just fell down, held in place by the actuating rod. I'll get up early in the morning to deliver it to the dealer along with a very angry customer. Yes I'll wait.

Replacing the bolt which is a special part not just a bolt. It won't last. You need better quality steps. They upgraded mine to kwikee. The original lipped broke in the first 2 weeks. The upgraded kwikee are almost a year old with no problems.

Step broke for mr too last year. I took it into camping world for warranty work. They fixed it and said those steps are very common For me it was a bolt at the gear box that broke in two. Now I put levelers under them when parked. But they said I should be fine. Time will tell
I didn't want to loose 3rd step because I have leveled where I needed a 4th step the front was so high.

My steps broke too but it was because I forgot to fold them in before I pulled the trailer out of the barn!

I think this the part that broke on my lippert steps. $6.00 part. You would need a drill and easy out to remove the threaded piece that sheared off in the welded nut.

Same part is broken on mine. I'm going to let the dealer fix it since we have even been camping yet.
