Suggestions for Queen Bed

Our FR3 is one month old and we have gone on one <cold> overnight to do the "monkey test". A few small glitches such as a window that won't close and a broken track in a drawer - but we are very VERY happy! Except ... my wife misses a night stand on her side of the bed. Has anyone downsized the bed from King to Queen to gain that space and add a wooden tray - or nightstand - or something? What is under the bed platform? Can this be done?

There have been some amazing before-after pictures of other improvements that have left us grinning! What talent and creativity in this group! So we come to you to share your expertise/ideas and photos of any bedroom improvements!
