SumoSprings

Just received my front and rear SumoSprings for my 2014, FR3 - 25DS. When I ordered them I thought they would be Blue as indicated. What I received were Black. The part numbers are SSF-184-40-1 and SSR-187-40-1 which appear to be the correct springs for the unit. My question is, has anyone used the black springs and/or does it make any difference whether they are Blue, Black or Yellow, especially on the ride and performance? Thanks for your input.

Look up Suspension upgrade post. I installed the sumo springs front and rear on our 2016 FR3 30DS and the ride became much firmer and more stable. The new sumo springs I got were black. it only took me about 2 hrs to do the work but I am old and slow any more.
Good luck.

Mine are blue, Look up your model # on Supersrings.com. to be sure. They are different colors for different Gross Weights and applications.

I installed part # SSF-170-40-2 (16K-22K GVWR) for the front that fit 2008-2018 Ford F53 chassis and SSR-187-40-1 (16K-18K GVWR) for the rear that fit 2005-2018 Ford F53 chassis. They both are dark blue/blackish looking. They work very good. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I called SumoSprings and they told me that the springs I have are correct for the FR3. They also said that the springs may look black but are considered to be blue. It all depends on how they come out of the mold when made. I put the front ones on today without to much of a problem. Think I am getting to old for this type of work though. Will put the rears on when I recover or try and find someone else to do it for me.

Mr. J, glad you got the correct answer from the source. We are very happy we installed our springs. Made a big difference. The rear are not to bad, but I did remove my rear wheels for access. Frame drills pretty easy. Good luck.
