The Honda CRV used to be the top option I saw being used as a toad by most. But Honda changed the transmission being used in the CRV for 2015 and it is now not rated to flat tow, but an older unit would still work great.

Big dog 1 JeNNY did great up grades, pulling the Rockies west of Denver was another story, at times we were in 2nd gear on the floor. But JeNNY never gave up and she pulled very well on open road with normal ups and downs. I haven't worked the numbers yet but feel we averaged about 7.25mpg for the trip.

Dont know about the compass. My Cherokee is an automatic transmission(DW really doesnt like driving a manual) and required the active II setup which includes a real 4x4 neutral to be flat towed. Took a bit of looking to find it. Check with Motorhomes Dinghy guide. Best list of towable cars trucks and suvs

Big Dog 1 pick up a Jeep Wrangler for flat towing. Just put the transfer case in neutral and transmission (auto) in park and your ready for towing. Nice thing is when you place the transfer case in neutral, it automatically unlocks the steering wheel. If the Wrangler is a stick shift, then just place the transmission in gear.

Thanks for the advice Wayne. I found just that and bought it from a private party today. Now I have to get it set up for towing.
