Water heater PM

I decided to do a little preventative maintenance on my water heater today......glad I did as I guess I didn't understand the life of an anode rod

This poor guy had sacrificed about as much as he had over the last 18 months. I'll be checking every 6 months or so from now on.

Having removed the rod, I spent a good 10 minutes flushing the tank, and was amazed how much crud came out of it.

Yep, definitely time to replace it.

Don't know if you've seen these instructional videos that Suburban sent us:

A lot of that “crud” was the remains of the rod which is not dead yet. I would replace it since it is out. Be sure to put 5-6 wraps of Teflon tape on the new one.

Just wrap the Teflon tape on the threaded portion ~ not the entire rod.

Sorry FordHauler, only wanted to clarify 'just in case'.

wmtire; I thought I saw you there. I guess you got the diseases I had. I've been cured.
