Water heater visual indicator?

We have a 2014 FR3 and wonder if others have this same issue. When we are heating up water for the next shower we have to go outside to hear if the heater is still running. Is the indicator light on the panel supposed to light up when the water is being heated?
thanks in advance.

What about on 110AC, I have not used the gas side enough to pay attention to the light......

My only A/C switch is a non-lighted rocker outside on the heater itself.

Ours is propane only. We have an indicator next to the rocker switch but have only seen it turn red when we set up for the first time. Maybe it's faulty. We will probably ask to have it checked when we go to Goshen for the Rally. THANKS!

When starting the hot water heater on gas using the 12VDC rocker panel switch, per the Atwood owner manual found here:

http://manuals.adventurerv.net/Atwoo...er-Service.pdf

"The next step is the direct spark ignition system. For a period of 6-8 seconds the circuit board will send voltage to both the gas solenoid valve and the electrodes. If ignition does not occur, the board goes into a lock-out condition and the non-ignition light illuminated at the ON/OFF switch."

So the light at the switch should normally be off, unless the unit has failed to light when requested.

When running on 110VAC, there is no indication other than that the switch has been turned on, UNLESS someone has possibly installed an inside switch with a power light on it.
