Do you mean the bypass valves that are right next to your water heater?

Yes. Behind the black access panel with the circle you unscrew there are 4 valves to various water lines. I am trying to figure out which way the valves are supposed to be set. Thanks

The three valve handles for the water heater all need to be parallel to the ground. With the valves in this position you are ready to use your water heater.

When all valve handles are vertical, the water heater is in bypass.

Go to this post and look at post 15.

The first picture shows the water heater valves, 3 of them. The other is for the water pump to select between the draft hose, to draw antifreeze into the system from a jug, or from the fresh water tank.
