window explodes

Has anyone had this happen beside us. We were taking our FR3 to the dealer to have some work done and also have it de-winterized. We were traveling on I-485 in Charlotte, NC and all of a sudden there was a noise in the motorhome. My wife said the window just exploded. I looked at the mirrors and could see glass popping out of the window and falling on the road. When we arrived at the dealers we inspected the window and found nothing unusual about the window except there was no Glass in the frame.The glass shards were very fine spread all over the couch. We do not know if this was a stress problem or what. We had just taken the cover off the motorhome and raised all of the shades and checked all windows and found nothing out of the ordinary. Could anyone give me any ideas about this. Thanks for any help.

I had a spontaneous break once with a Velux roof window in a house. I suppose the same could happen in an RV although I've never heard of it before. Perhaps you should check with local law enforcement to determine if any other windows have been broken on or near the interstate. A rock or worse, a bullet, could have been the cause.

I've had a few windows shatter for no reason. It's a defect when they manufacture the glass. Since they found no evidence of an outside influence it should be a warranty item, if you still have coverage, if not it's an insurance item.
