Assuming that's the NY, Tri State Area.
Here is what I do, but I live in the South.
Drain Fresh Water Tank and run pump till empty with all faucets open
Connect an air compressor to my water in take valve for city water and set the pressure to 40 PSI. I have an adapter to connect the compressor to the hose end fitting.
I use a socket to remove the drain plug from the hot water heater and let the water pour out. I adjust the hot water heater by pass valves so they bypass the water heater. I have these labeled so I can put them back in the spring.
Turn on the compressor and until only air is blowing through.
Go back and close all faucets (even the outdoor shower).
Put the plug back in the water heater w/ teflon tape.
Drain all holding tanks.
There may be one more step to drain the water pump, but I did not do that last year.
I didn't want to use the anti-freeze for several reasons mostly because it's a lot more work. Not sure if there's a reason you need to use it where you are.
I do put anti-freeze in the drain pipes however, just not in my water lines.
