Awning will not retract
I have a 2018 Hemisphere 299 re travel trailer. Awining has been working fine until today.
It will go out on but will not retract.
I had to wind it in will a electric drill.
Any words of wisdom? We are camping now. Kind of takes the fun of the trip.
Any help would be appreciated!
Don't won't to take it to the dealer....

First, don't fret and enjoy your trip! Things happen and you can't let it ruin what should be fun and relaxing. We've all been there and dealt with some crap!
There will be a way to retract it. So you're golden there.
Depends on what the symptoms are- does it try to go in and the motor is too weak?

I called LCI. They ask if I was running on battery power. I was, the batterys where too weak to operate the awning. I turned the inverter on to shore power. now everything works well. Still trying to understand if inverter is supposed to be on when hooked up to shore power. I assume it should be on when on shore power and off while traveling.

Are you sure you mean inverter?
A CONverter does 2 things: 1) it converts 120v to 12v; and 2) charges your battery. It should basically always be on unless you're managing amps.
An inverter takes battery power and makes 120v. You have to specifically add this (usually). In this case, it would be off unless you're not hooked to shore power and need 120v for some reason (say a residential fridge or wanting to run some outlets, etc).

I think you have it backwards.
The inverter should only be used when you DON'T have shore power. The inverter allows your fridge to run on the batteries.

We are running a residential refrigerator on shore power. So I assume the converter should be. On while hooked to shore power and off while traveling off shore power.

Watch your terms. They're similar but mean opposite things. Converter vs inverter.
Your converter uses 120v, so if you're on shore power- it's powered. If you're not on shore power, it's off.
And inverter however- that is OFF when on shore power and ON when not.

No, leave the CONverter turned on all of the time. Leave the INverter off when you are on shore power. Turn the INverter on while traveling or anytime you want to use your batteries to create 120 volts to run your fridge or something else. Do be aware that using the inverter uses a lot of battery power and can drain batteries quickly. You may need extra batteries if you expect to run the inverter for a long time.

If it goes out, but not in, it could be the switch or switch connection. Many of the awning motors will continue to run after you put them out ( if you hold the switch). This will roll up the awning in a pinch, but it will be rolled up inside out. I have seen many people that rolled up the awning inside out by accident.

No because it doubles as your battery charger. Leave it on all the time.
