So the wife has a power chair that she uses to assist her. Her MS (multiple sclerosis) has gotten worse over the years.
The ramp was steep for her to feel comfortable using.
I looked all over the place to see if anyone else had done anything similar. I really didn't find much on toyhauler ramp doors.
One day I set up the rv and wanted to experiment to see at what angle and how much ramp I'd need to make the transition comfortable to my wife while she used her powerchair.
After about 30-45 mins I rigged some ramps and Jack stands and got it at a comfortable height and incline that she was comfortable using.
Here's some pictures from the beginning
Not sure if it's noticeable but the very front wheels where lifting off the ramp. Not good..
So it took some time but I figured out a safe incline
So I bought some hinges , plywood and 2x4's. This is what I made.
The wood folds up and the ramp folds up like a suitcase when not in use.
I guess you could call it a handicap ramp in my toyhauler lol
It's added some weight to the door but not enough where I can't raise or lower it.
Have a strap that I use inside on one of the tie downs so the wood ramp don't swing open inside and hit anything.
Have a good one
