Switch next to the fuse box
Hi,
We just recently bought a 2014 EVO 3250 (slightly used) and went through a thorough inspection before taking it home. Everything is fine but the salesman couldn't tell us what the switch next to the fuse box was for. It looks like any of the other wall mounted light switches on the walls but is low on the floor next to the fuse box. Our EVO had the Climate "B" package which I am assuming is the Arctic Package. Could the switch go to heat tape under the TT? Any info on this would be appreciated.
Thank You
J & T

Here is a picture of the switch next to the fuse/circuit breaker box. It is just a regular white light switch. I don't know what it controls and why it is in that location. Any ideas???
Thanks for any help

Your switch
On my unit (not the same model) this would be the battery shut off switch. Maybe you can check that out. Just turn sme lights on without being hooked up to shore power. If the light go out when you try that switch, should be a pretty good sign. Good Luck

Stlcaly,
I tried it and it is not the battery shutoff switch. I did notice that when I turn on the switch that the lights dim a little so it must be used to power something.
The search continues....

Our Sanibel 5r has a similar switch by the door. It turns on a light above the door so you don't walk in to a dark camper. It is low and beside the fuse panel.

James,
Ours have a switch for the light next to the door also but it is located right next to the entry door. The unknown switch and our fuse/circuit panel are located in the middle of the trailer just below the wardrobe closet.
I submitted a question to the Forest River Service department but have not gotten a reply back yet.
Thank You
John & Theresa

Toddupton,
The water heater switch is located in the control panel right next to the door so I don't think it is that.
I just called an EVO dealer in north Texas and he couldn't tell me over the phone and said I would have to come in for them to trace it.
I thought it might be for heat tape in the underbelly, it has the climate "B" package, but the dealer told me that the heat tape should come on with the furnace so it probably isn't that either.
Still searching.....
Thank You
John & Theresa

The previous owner may have added the switch to control the electric element of the water heater. The switch is more convenient than going outside or to the trailer's circuit breaker box. Many of us have done that. If the water heater is not hot, turn it off at the water heater or breaker and turn the switch on. If you don't get the same effect on your lights, you'll know what it's for.

The mystery is finally solved. I emailed FR and was informed that it is for the "tank heating pads". It is supposed to turn on when temp drops below 42 and turns off when temp goes above 62. The rep told me it is part of my "Climate-B" pkg which I assume is another name for the Arctic Pkg.
