Atwood On Demand Hot Water Heater

The heat exchanger on my hot water developed a leak over the winter.
Googling the Atwood part number did not turn up an abundance of replacement parts. Contacted the factory and they did not have any in stock either. They also informed me that the line of Atwood On-Demand water heaters have been discontinued.
I did find a dealer with one in stock and have ordered it.

One item that I find concerning about the new on-demand water heaters is that the technology is constantly being updated to resolve shortcomings in the designs.
I don’t expect this problem is isolated to Atwood, Girard, or even Truma, but rather the the nature of ever-changing technology. As with all technology, the rate of change should slow down once it matures and parts on the warehouse shelves will carry less financial risk for manufacturers and dealers alike.
