Coolant line failure

wanted everyone to be aware of an issue we had with out coach on our trip to Sturgis....DEF injector is warmed by coolant line which uses cheap plastic fittings...big failure on rt 90 for us...Factory has been very helpful but wanted everyone to keep an eye out

Thanks for the heads up. We leave on a 3,000 mile trip the end of September. Can you tell me where on the RV this picture was taken? Is that the DEF tank in the background? Want to be sure I check it before we head out. Take care.

Serious issue

for everyone on here...the issue became a problem as they coolant hose was not supported properly...a simple thing such as a few cable ties would have stopped this from happening...the weight of the hose snapped the coolant fitting off the injector...right now it's a fitting between the hoses waiting for my appointment with the local Freightliner rep here in my home town..Mike from Forest River service group at the factory is aware of the issue and has been very helpful.

I will be under our coach in the morning having a look. Leaving on a 2 month trip on Monday, would not be good.

Thanks much for sharing the info.

I crawled under and took a look. The hoses are supported fairly well with a metal/rubber clamp attached to the frame rail about 8" from the plastic fittings. I can see where a small foreign object from the road could cause a problem. As an added measure I used zip ties and tied the two hoses together hoping to minimize that potential. I actually did not realize there were even coolant hoses there. That entire after treatment system is new to me so I'm learning!
Thanks for posting.

Glad I could help....I spent a few hours under mine the other day on a creeper learning all I could about the RV....found a few places I plan to clean up and sand...few rust marks....primer and then paint....surprised they used plastic fittings on something so close to heat

I took a quick look at mine from the DEF compartment and was able to find it thanks to your help and photos. Looks like it's pretty well supported but I still plan on shimmying under there and tracing it end to end. Thanks for the heads up!
