Engine air filter

I changed the engine air filter today on my 2015 legacy. Fleetguard part AH1197 or WIX 46748. My coach has 50k miles and this was the first air filter change. The indicator was not showing that it needed replacement but I thought it was time. Filter is located on drivers side at the very back of the coach. It is accessed from underneath as I think it is too far back to get from the engine access under the bed. Clamps were all on the top of the unit so it took using a mirror and working by touch. I loosened the bracket on the frame to allow more wiggle room. It took about an hour, most difficult part was fitting the intake hose on the new unit as it’s on the top of the filter and not visible. Also a lot of dirt and dust back there so I needed to wear a face shield to keep the falling sand out of my eyes. Old filter was dirty at the intake point but the rest of it was not bad. Manual says to monitor the indicator for filter change frequency. I expect I’ll go a little longer before the next change.

I changed mine recently as well, it is in fact a bit difficult. Hard to reach the top hose that you can't see especially with all that crap falling in your face. However, done. I cut open the old one with 36K miles, the indicator had not moved but lot of dirt in there. Was worth changing.
