Legacy Home Theater

I could not get the DVD player to give a decent picture until I pulled it out of the Cabinet and direct connected it to the TV. So the dvd player is sitting on the dinette table and directly connected to the TV. I have a separate connection from the dvd player to the sound bar to get sound. The only way to hear a movie is to turn off the AC (were are in AZ) and put the sound bar at full volume. I've set the master volume on the sound bar to maximum also.
We plug in an iPod to the sound bar and have all the volume we need.
