New Refrigerator Latch

Just installed the 'Thor' refrigerator latch. Looks like in will work ok. Glad to not have to screw in/out the big knob that came with my Legacy. Interesting that the existing holes lined up perfectly.Click image for larger version

I ordered it from Total Value RV, phone 574-263-4460. I talked to Tonya in parts. She knew exactly what I was wanting. In fact, she had been ordering so many of them she has the part number written on a yellow stickee at her desk. The part number is 0315479, which is the short latch. Don't remember exactly but cost was around $8 plus $20 or so shipping (yes this seemed high).

Was in Elkhart this past Wednesday & Thursday, I stopped by Total RV and bought one. Had a bunch of them sitting on a shelf near her desk.

I ordered one and I'm wondering how you installed it? My 2014 refrig opens on the left and the latch seemed to need to go under the wood trim on the side. I can take a knife or dermal tool and make a spot but wondered if I am missing something. I thought this would be a simple screw on but it's not.

I did not have to trim any wood. As shown in my pics, The holes in the bracket lined up with hole for the big bolt with knob on one end and the hole where the L shaped bracket is that attaches the fridge to the side panel. If you look closely at the third pic, you will notice that the latch arm can hit the wood trim if opened far enough, however it doesn't need to be rotated that far to function properly. It could be that your fridge install is slightly different from mine. A pic of yours would help.

Will mount mine just like DrJAG pictures shows. Only difference is my trim is grey instead of black.

This mod is a must do in my opinion.

We installed this 2 years ago and has simplified operation. It doesn't rub wood trim unless pulled all the way open which isn't required. Simple install!

That knob was ridiculous!

Must have!

I always thought the big screw was a dumb idea!
After a run in with the freezer door and a huge knot on my forehead,
we ordered one.
Easy install, two screws. I LOVE it!!!
Thanks for the order that was included here!!!

Looks good. The knob thing was a joke. We got the kid latches that come two to a package. They stick on, then you have to squeeze to unlock them. One for freezer, one for fridge. Since we keep microwave utensils in the microwave, it kept flying open and throwing stuff if you hit a bump when cornering. I put the same latch fastened under the
microwave door and the microwave itself and cured that problem, too.
