Here is a good video of the Roadmaster "Alaska Pack" rock guard - we are considering this for our TOAD

I just bought the Blue Ox Kar Guard II. Haven't installed it yet. Also haven't decided on to get a mud flap or not.

I just bought and installed the Roadmaster Tow Defender and have towed about 700 miles. So far no new rock chips.

DrJAG - Don't forget to buy a small bottle of LocTite before you get ready to install it. You'll need it when you replace the two pins on your tow bar. Now have 10,000 miles towing the Jeep with it and no chips at all.

That's good to hear! We went with the KarGuard II - hoping it will give as much protection as your KarGuard.

Just got back from first trip towing the CRV. It was short trip but the Kar Guard II worked great. I was worried about the exhaust melting the fabric but that wasn't an issue.

I worried about the same thing at first. Before I ordered it, I went to their website and they said to make sure your exhaust tip either turned downward or otherwise cleared it. That's how I first discovered that FR had left off the entire end of the exhaust system! Everything was missing back to where it connects to the DEF chamber thingy. You could tell from the connector that nothing had ever been attached. Got that fixed, thank goodness, before it was a problem. Only heat related issue I've noticed is the temp of the front right tire on the toad consistently runs 8-10 degrees warmer than the other tires on the toad. Not an issue, just an observation. That's the wheel closest to the exhaust stream.

Here we are at Rocky Fork State Park in Ohio. Decided to unhook the toad in parking area prior to moving on to campsite. Getting a little better at hooking and unhooking 😀.Click image for larger version

We elected to use mud flaps behind the tires that are extra wide and long enough to be about 5" off the ground, and then the duraflap mud falp on the back. They custom made it to our specifications, with their guidance, and we have no rock chips on our CRV. We have gone over 20,000 miles.
