Wind Noise? Humming?

Hello,

I've enjoyed reading thru this forum and learning quite a bit about Forest River Legacy.
I recently purchased a used unit 2014 Legacy sr340. I am experiencing what seems to be a humming coming from the front passenger side when I get over 50MPH. I first thought it was the AC fan going bad and causing a humming sound. I have tried taping the generator access door thinking wind was causing the sound around the access door but that is not this issue. Not sure if there is a mechanical issue that is causing the noise or if it is wind noise that needs to be found and taken care of.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing this humming noise?

Might be a silly suggestion, but check the side sliding window. The latch is deceiving.

I initially checked to make sure the slide window was latched properly but have not actually tried latching and unlatching or pulling it tighter while moving. I will try that and hopefully it is that simple. Will post results. Thanks for the suggestion.

Found that opening the side window(either side) to about 3/4 will make the noise stop.


It seems that somehow there is pressure built up that is causing the humming coming from what seems to be the lower right hand side(passenger side) where the windshield and dashboard meet.
Relieved that it is not a mechanical issue.

Grasping at straws for you.
1. With the side windows closed and latched push them forward to see if they open. The latch can be deceiving.
2. In darkness have one person shine a bright light in the generator compartment aiming up towards the floor and dash area. Have one person watch for light intrusion. If found, seal the area with expanding foam.
Again, just throwing out ideas.

Same problem with 2016 Legacy SR340KP. So loud at highway speeds can't talk. Very disappointing. Doesn't make sense.

Jimmybob, I did find that there is light being emitted into the unit when I used a flashlight through the generator access door and pointed it to the suspected passenger corner on the exterior underside. (Thanks to aeroshots suggestion) However the following morning I was taking my unit in for warranty work and did not get to foam insulate the area as much as I would have liked to. I will be getting the rv back later this week and will continue to analyze and post results. Hopefully this helps address the issue we are experiencing. Please post your findings.

Just completed my first long trip(3189 mi.) Foam insulation added to the suspected area has addressed the humming issue. No More Humming noise!!!
