Another Shasta sign of Quality.

Bought Shasta in March. Has been sitting in driveway since, but yet the door handle it pitting like crazy. Not to mention the frame is rusting like it's sitting in road salt. Usually powered coat painting is more durable than that if it's done right.

I'm including photos related to my travails with a brand new Shasta Airflyte 19.

Some show my solution for the AC. I insulated and sealed the AC compartment to prevent hot air from entering the interior, and added an 8" duct fan, then repositioned the silly little computer fan so that it is held in place by 3 screws. In 85 deg weather yesterday, the interior was cooled to 75 deg in under 1 hour. It eventually got down to 73 deg inside The trailer was in the shade on a sunny day.

The other photos show the gaucho pull out falling apart at the upper front team, which was supposed to be held together by stapled, many of which were misfired, none of which were adequate to the job of holding this joint together. It needs come metal corner braces, which I will add.

Is the President of this company apathetic, incompetent or simply a cruel cynic. I, like others, was attracted to this re-issue by the idea of a vintage travel trailer rebuilt with modern equipment. It would have been so easy, and cost very little more to have built these things right from the beginning.

This is where someone will comment, "But ALL travel trailers have issues! Even those that cost half a million dollars!"

I believe we Airflyte owners are seeing the worst of the industry. It's very clear -- Shasta just does not care.

My camper I bought March this year and it was at the shasta plant till the end of may and I have major rusting on bumper frame and tounge and piting on the door handle and shasta badge as well

Strappe - I completely forgot about that gaucho fix, there have been so many fixes it's starting to get hard to keep up and remember them all. But yes, I had the same issue and fixed that with some metal corner braces (maybe 3 - 1 in the middle and 1 on each end) screwed into both pieces with small wood screws and a heavy dose of Elmer's wood glue along the seam for good measure. No problems (and not wobbly) since.

Can you recall he source of the metal braces? I'm trying to find something with some strength that also looks good. I'm finding only stainless or galvanized metal "L" side braces.

They were cheapo / ugly - I put them on the backside where they wouldn't be seen so probably came from Wally world or some place similar.
