Insect Screens?

Are insect screens for vents a good idea? I see they are commercially available for Dometic refrigerators, bumpers, etc. I see some people have used foam but I would think that would be too restrictive.

I've bought alum. type screen from Lowes and cut and taped (duct) to inside A/C on top, fridge vent, water heater door, and need to buy the ones for the furnace exhaust/intake. Mud dobbers love the a/c!
