2010 Grey Wolf 26BH battery/charging questions
Does the battery charge when connected to the tow vehicle via 7-pin? Is there a battery shut off for when it is in storage? I cannot find answers in the owners manual.

yes, but not enough to count. you would have to drive 3,000 miles without stopping to really charge the battery.

yes, but actually the output of your alternator, the condition of your battery, and the electrical load on both vehicles combined would determine how far you would have to drive to charge the trailer battery. It would take a while though. Doubt you have a battery shut off, as most do not. Just disconnect it when in storage, and don't forget to reconnect it before you hook up.

If you have the WFCO converter in your unit, when you are plugged into shore power, the converter has a 3 stage charging feature. It will drop to the trickle charging stage, once it gets fully charged up. I put 2 batteries on mine, because I dry camp frequently in the fall and winter months. I don't disconnect them from their terminals, but I do check the water levels about every other month. I don't know if you have this converter, or not, but you should have a manual with your paperwork on the converter, and that should tell you. Hope this helps, Randy

Thanks
Thanks for the replies. Just looking to keep the battery from draining while stored between trips. Want to do some fall camping and put off winterizing until we get a hard freeze. Thought about leaving the furnace on 40 - 45 degrees. I just got my solar charger today, hope it helps.

When I'm at home, I keep my camper hooked up to shore power, and that keeps the batteries up to par. Randy

If you plan on running the furnace much, you'll need more than solar. The furnace fan runs on 12 volts and is a battery killer. Solar won't recharge what that fan will pull your battery down in one cool night. As long as you don't have temps below 32 for over 15 to 20 hours, you shouldn't have to worry about pipes freezing, especially if you're parked where the trailer can get some sun. Open the curtains and blinds to help get some heat. Also may want to blow the lines out with a "blow out" plug to get rid of most of the water. Hope this helps. Also that furnace is going to take a lot of lp gas, so you'll need to check the tanks every few days.
