274DBH Range hood wiring?

Hi!
I've recently acquired a 274DBH. While working in there recently i randomly decided to pop on the range-hood light. Much to my dismay it didn't work. Neither did the hood fan. Both of these items worked during the PDI.

After scratching my head a little, and checking fuses, I flipped on the switch for the kitchen lights, and lo and behold the range-hood worked.

Is anyone else's rig like this? I think the range hood should function regardless of the whether I've the lights on.

Thank you all!

Mine is also wired to the switch at the panel. Going to call the dealer.

Please let me know what they say.
I've got to go back for a couple of other things [low airflow from furnace and a new electric heater element], so I can probably add that to the list if it's 'wrong'.

My hood fan and light also work on their own without any other lights or switches on.

I took another look at this today, and I suspect it's on purpose. I've got the so-called premium kitchen upgrade which is mostly additional lighting. Part of that are two LED lights in the range hood I didn't notice before. Those lights are controlled by the switch, therefore it's a lot easier to just use the same +12V rather than running another unswitched for the fan and the other [seemingly redundant] light.

Just take the bulbs out. There's more than enough lights already. Leave the switch on and use the hood light and fan as needed.

I can just depress the center of the LEDs to disable them, and that's likely what I'll have to do.

It's still odd that not all units are wired the same.
