a/c unit
So remember I'm new to this.....
This is the first time we've run out a/c for any length of time. I noticed water dripping from the out side gutter. It is clearly coming from the roof ac unit.
Is this normal??

It's the condensation exchange from the AC. Just like at home. Normal, normal.

You should have the Freon level checked as it might be low and the filter may need cleaning or replaced.

Yes very normal.
On humid days it will really make alot of water.

If you have the ac running and you don't have water running off the roof, it's time to start investigating. The water off the roof is normal and should be just about constant.

If this was the case it would be short cycling, freezing up or not cooling at all. Wouldnt hurt to check though, but I wouldnt worry about the freon for given condition.
Every ac system from a car to house makes condensation. Humidity or lack thereof will determine how much. On humid days here in OK, one rv unit could easily make a gallon an hour

We are out in deep east texas, close to the Louisiana border. Very rustic and peaceful.

The water comes from frost buildup melting from the condenser right?

Evaporator, is what gets cold, shouldn't freeze up though. Condensor handles the hot end of an ac system.
Condensation is from warm air meeting cold, just like in rain storms

Humidity condenses on the evaporator, and drips outside onto the roof. You wouldn't want it to drip inside.

I am pretty sure ALL of these are hermetically sealed. The checking the "freon" level means tapping into the system...or using superheat to check it... If you can someone smart enough to do that. The condensation is normal and is removed on the evaporator from the air in your trailer. Camp on.

Ah thank you for the correction.
The trailer is an 2006 I figure the AC had not been serviced.
A plugged filter will cause low or no air flow.
Low Freon will cause less than optimal cooling and over work the unit.
Also if the thermometer was set below 70F?

Temp was 75 'ish. Unit was serviced late last year.

You can't check superheat unless you know what the low side refrigerant pressure is. While I've never been into ours I don't know, but I would think that there are refrigerant taps on it. But this does no good to the regular joe without a set of gauges. Condensation running off the trailer is all normal and will vary based on humidity. I see no reason to worry to the op! If it's cooling down your rig and you have condensation running off the roof all is good!

Thanks to those in the know....
