A little help please?
We just traded the 2014 rPod on a 2020 Cherokee Alpha 23rd-l. Anyone know the ball size and tongue heith when level? I don't pick it up for a week and I'm trying to get the hitch set up for it. Feel dumb for not checking when we bought it. LOL

Ball size is 2-5/16 inch, sorry I can't help with the hitch height.

Doing a PDI when you pick it up ? Dealer will finish the setup for the hitch and you can readjust at home if needed. Most dealers do that, but I suppose there are some that don't.

Right but I am not spending the money on an adjustable height hitch and I wanted to buy one and at about 20% cheaper than the dealership. But thank you.

Depends on your truck, hitch, tongue weight, etc.

Height of hitch will depend on how level the ground is when unhooked.

UPDATE
So I was finally able to get a tongue height off the trailer when leveled in the dealership parking lot. That gave me enough info to judge the ball height when trailer is hitched. I know my truck and the tongue weight of the old trailer compared to the tongue weight of the new trailer and was able to set up the ball mount.
Thanks for the input everyone I do appreciate it. Getting excited for picking up the new trailer tomorrow.

You are planning on a weight-distribution hitch, aren't you? It should come with the ball and all the necessary equipment. EWe have had good luck with the Equalizer 4 point friction hitch.

The 4pt Equal-i-zer does not come with the ball. You have to buy it separately.

Nope, we have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. 14k lb adjustable height ball mount. Don't need load distribution hitch.

I tow less trailer, also with a 2500, and I use one. No, it isn't strictly needed. Most will suggest using one anyway.

Dealer suggested but I figured everything was in specs so they wanted the money for the expensive hitch.

Keeps your truck level and keeps yours headlights out of oncoming drivers eyes. If that makes any difference.

If it squated the truck more than 3" I would consider it but it didn't. The truck has a fair rake to it as well. Just the way it sets from the factory.
If I notice that it seems to bother oncoming traffic, i.e. I'm getting flashed very much, I will get the load distribution. I don't want to be that guy but if I can save $500 I will.

Oops. Stupid Tapatalk..
I felt it was a good safety. One more thing that would have to come disconnected if something went wrong. Shop it on Amazon or etrailer. I wanna say mine was like $300 or less, since it wasn't the 10 million pound one.

Hitch
Sway control is another good reason to use an Equal-i-zer Hitch. If (when)you get into a sway situation the Equal-i-zer helps you control the sway. You can never tell when you might have to swerve to miss a deer or something in the road. That $500 hitch may save your life or mine.
