2. The stroke on my jigsaw I think is too short for the door, I may need to get a longer blade. I would think when it draws in it would be inside the door and not through so it would be smacking against the inside of the far side of the door. Either that or a metal blade on my sawzall.

To answer your questions:
I continuously checked both sides while cutting. Make sure you have two people and have the door open while cutting. There will be tiny pieces of the polystyrene (insulation) flying in the air while cutting. Also make sure you have the screen door closed to prevent these pieces from going into your TT. Keep the deck flat against the door while you cut and take your time!
As someone else posted, make sure you have a long enough blade to be able to cut through the 1-1/2" door. As well as a fine tooth blade for precise cut.
