Attention Gray Wolf owners.

I'm looking at upgrading my current TT to a 26dbh. I'd love some thoughts on this TT.

Looking for pros and cons, why does it appear to be such a good value for its size?

I'm looking at buying a new 2015/16 model. I'm coming out of a 16ft hybrid.

Thoughts please

Thanks in advance,

Dave

We bought our 2016 in June. Dealer had to fix a kink in the water line and replace the cable outlet in the ceiling since the OEM doesn't work with Dish and I had to fix the fridge not firing up on propane. No other issues needing repair. After a 2 day shakedown trip we went on a 3,600 round mile trip from MN into Canada then Yellowstone and back. Have gone a few 3 day trips since then. Everything is good. Tows easily with my 2014 Ram 1500. Four more trips planned through the end of Oct then will winterize it.

We are using the bunk bed space for storage since it is just us and 2 dogs. This is our first RV and I like the space and layout for our needs!

We have a 274DDH which is similar to the one you are looking at. We upgraded from a 21' hybrid and there is no comparison. The new trailer is much more comfortable and roomy. We have two teenagers, so camping in the hybrid was cramped at best. Setup and takedown are much easier and quicker, plus while on the road if you need a bathroom, you can get to it easily, just find somewhere to pull off the road. As far as value, the TT is worth the extra money over the hybrid.

The 26dbh was our first trailer that we bought this year. We looked at the same layout in many different trailers and this one just grabbed our attention. We haven't had any issues ( knock on wood ) with ours. The layout works amazing for us with a toddler. Lots of great storage and plenty of room to walk around. It's a great trailer.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to pull the trigger on this unit. I pick it up Thursday or Friday of this week. We're beyond excited to make this upgrade. I'll keep this thread up to date with my opinions.

You will love that TT. I have the 2015 EVO which is the exact same floor plan but in a 28 foot configuration. I love everything about it. I came from a 1978 Taurus with no slide so this new one opened a world of space. The only issue I have ever had with mine was a cabinet handle came loose but my dealer got me a new one and it was a 1 minute fix. I have camped over 13 nights (in heat and cold) as well as towed over 5k miles and I haven't had any problems or negatives things to say yet. I bought it back in feb so I have not owned it too long. The only thing I didn't like was the original tires so those are often the first things to go.

Welcome to the forum and good luck. Come back and ask all the questions you need!

We have a 2015 Grey Wolf 26RL, only 2 problems, they replaced the Air Conditioner, kept freezing up ( new one great ) and the slide tore a gash in the floor, all fixed by Camping World and we love the unit.

Just be sure to shop around for price, we saved $4000 from our local CW to one out of state !!!!

We love are grey wolf 2016 26dbh we went from a 2014 27bh Dutchman. This has way more room bigger bathroom. Only problemshows we had was the shower was draining into the black tank. Spoke with Jackie at Forest River and I worked with my dealer they corrected the problem by installing a separate 35 gallon tank just for the shower so it way better now never worrying about having to sumo the tanks. They first couple hundred models that ran in 2016 had this probity from my understanding they caught it and fixed it at the factory so that's something to ask your dealer about. Only other complaint I have is therected is no AC vent in the master bedroom room so do your self a favor mount a small fan on the wall to pull the air in now it works almost to good I freeze at night now with the fan on high. Other then that great trailer at a great price enjoy

Grey Wolf

We own a 2013 Grey Wolf Select 28BH. Our only issue after a 4000 mile trip was excessive tire wear, especially on the left side. Problem was improper alignment. Also bent one skid plate due to inadequate clearance. Forest River installs the cheapest axles and tires. So I had the axles replaced with 5200 lb. axles (and cross bracing) and upgraded from 13 inch tires and rims to 16 inch tires and rims (Maxxis 10 ply E rated radials) and changed the skid plates with square tubing and 4" wheels with cross bracing. Also the springs were strengthened by adding extra leafs. This increased the clearance considerably. All travel trailer owners should have the axles and wheels aligned before any long trips to avoid excessive tire wear and blowouts. (Blowouts appear to be a fairly common problem on these forums). When replacing tires, definitely go for the Maxxis radials.
A strong undercarriage will prolong the life of a TT.
Happy camping!

So far, so good.

We picked our new TT last Thursday and love it so far. I have some of the same concerns that I have seen other posts about, but nothing I haven't been able to take care of myself.

I was surprised how much construction debris was left behind access panels and inside storage areas that I wouldn't expect the dealer to clean. I took care of it my self. I'm not the type to have someone else do what I'm perfectly capable of.

The one concern that I'm addressing with Forest River is the mis-matched locks on the main and bath door. My dealer explained that this is normal. If that is the case, it's strange. I'm not sure why it would be normal to have two different locks on doors on the same unit. It's a small concern and we'll see how it plays out.

It is surprising how easy the larger TT is to pull and back up. I'm used to an 18ft and how easy it is to "whip" the old one.

So far the only mods that I have made is adding a slide topper, installing a water filter, installing a Max Air vent, and getting rid of the 751 key on the storage doors.

I'm heading out this weekend for the first trip. I don't expect any problems, but if any should arise, this is where I plan to come for solutions.

Thanks,
Dave

What do you mean "all electric " the only thing we "nned" ac for is A/C, why would you want to give up the option for running on propane ???

My locks are different as well. I was told the door handles come in a single pack, since not all TTs have multiple doors. That is why two keys. I dont mind at all.

How did you change up the 751 locks on the doors. I want to do that as well but wasn't sure how to do it.

I purchased 4 Cabinet locks from Home Depot. Easy swap, it only takes a few minutes for each compartment. It took a couple of trips to HD to find 4 with matching key codes on the back of the package.

Here is a link to what I purchased.

Prime-Line 7/8 in. Chrome Drawer and Cabinet Keyed Cam Lock-U 9943 - The Home Depot
