Back up light power

Morning,

First I would like to wish everyone in this outstanding forum a safe and prospers new year!

I would like to install aftermarket back up lights on my 2017 Cherokee Limited 304 however I do not know if the power is wired to the rear of the camper. My TV does supply power to the center pin of the connector.

Has anyone had done this or can give me information on where to connect to the power for back up lights?

Thanks,
Andy

It seems every trailer is different.

Some have the wire, others don't.
Some with the wire have it connected to the Bargman connector, some don't.

You will need to do some investigating and if your's doesn't, it is a simple matter of running a wire to the rear of the unit from the plug.

Thanks 5picker,

Yes I can run a wire from the connector and that sounds like the best solution.

Odds are there is not a wire already existing. I added backup lights. I ran 1" flexible conduit from the hitch to the back of the TT along the frame rails using existing underbelly screws and "C" clips. I added a trace line to allow me to pull the wiring through, Keep the trace line as I later used it for my B/U camera line. It is also possible that you do have an existing wire from the Bargman center connector to the fuse block. Depending on the manufacturer of your TV the circuit may need a fuse and relay or just a fuse. These are not installed by the manufacturer and are many times left in the glove box in a small bag. If not supplied, they can be obtained at any auto parts store.
