I used a cheap $30 backup camera I bought on Amazon... picture quality is great and has been working about 18 months so far... the screen on the other hand was a different story. I picked up one screen for about $30 and it lasted about 2 weeks. I tried another about $50 and that did not work out of the box so I returned it for credit.
I finally purchased a $79 2 camera + 5" screen security system from Harbor Freight. I did not need the cameras, but I used the screen and it works great. Mounting it was a challenge but I got it where I need it on the dash. I have since mounted one of the cameras on the top rear of my van looking down. This way not only can I see the ball centered in my screen but I can now also see the distance I am from the TT ball. I can hook up pretty easy all by myself. The HF screen has two inputs and will switch between the two on auto or you can manually select which input to use.

So I got about $100 invested in a two camera (licence plate cam and roof cam) system that works great.

Back Up Camera

Right after buying my Forest River Salem Cruise Lite I went to Car Toys to see about back up cameras. They of course sell wired systems. hooks into your mirror. Unfortunately, I already have a backup camera for my truck in my mirror and I didnt want a wire system. Told them so. They also showed me a Garmin GPS system with bluetooth and a wireless Camera unit available for that system. this was in the 400 dollar range. didnt buy it at the time but I think this is they way I will go. Need to update my GPS and this fits the bill for me.

I went to my dealer and they gave me their price on the furrion back up camera $199. Supposedly, forest river wires then to be on if your running lights are on which would make it an observation camera.

Should be a quick install....

Picked up camera yesterday from dealer-easy install into the existing cover. It was literally one plug in jack and 4 screws. Will be using camera tonight as we head to Lake George for the weekend

So on the way to our destination, camera kept losing connection. I changed the antennae direction and will update tomorrow, hope it improves!

The backup camera does lose the connection at times at highway speeds but it was a big improvement over having none. The antennae needs to be pointed up.

Plus the dealer gave me their price on backup camera at $199.

Wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket wireless cam where the factory Furrion mount is installed. I am wondering if it would be easy to access the wiring behind the port for power and ground? $325 seems way too much, on Amazon I see some really good rated ones for $80.

Just pulled up the wiring on the furrion mount and by the looks of the pic should be very easy to splice into power and ground.Click image for larger version

I installed a RVS camera on my Cedar Creek last year in the location where the pre drilled mount location had been prepared. It took a few minutes of fishing around to locate the power cable and pull it through the hole but I got there. I then just cut off the Furrion connector and clamped their wires on to the wiring for the camera. Attached the camera to the back of the rig and hey presto!
