That said, my trailer is in secure storage (battery won't get stolen) and it doesn't get cold enough here to freeze the battery.
I put a marine battery switch on my old trailer. My "new" trailer came with one from the factory.

As mentioned, it is a convenience.
Why unhook the battery and/or lug the thing home when all you'd need to do is throw the disconnect. (unless crime is an issue or you were out boondocking with no way to charge the battery at storage)
No worries about freezing either. A properly charged battery won't freeze until the ambient temperature gets to about 90º below zero.
We northerners charge, then disconnect and leave our battery(ies) outside all the time. Sometimes for up to 6 months. No worries.
