Change a tire
How do you jack a 274DBH to change a tire? Do you need a special jack and where is the jack point? Also, I'm driving from the east coast to Alaska and didn't even get a spare tire from the dealership. Do you recommend buying one or relying on roadside assistance?

Just make sure it will work... Mine would not get the trailer off the ground. Needed two more 2x6's to raise the trailer enough.

tire change
That "Trailer Aide" comes in 2 sizes...I'd recommend the larger one. Sure helps with a speedy tire change along a busy highway. You may still need to jack up the effected axle but it at least gets it most of the way for you. I'd also recommend a 4 way lug wrench, and a practice run before you need it.

Carry a spare. It'll get you off the road faster and you won't have to eat on anyone

By all means get a spare.
We are also headed to Alaska and are carrying 3 spares.
I had a flat last week in Livingston, Montana, and used my Trailer-Aid. As stated, it will almost do the job. I used a 2 1/2 ton floor jack(Harbor Freight) to lift the axle of the flat enough to put on the spare. I carry a 4 way lug wrench, the Trailer-Aid, an 8 ton bottle jack, the floor jack, 2 axle stands for safety, half a dozen 2x6's 18" long and my torque wrench with a thin socket that fits my lug nuts.
It took me 30 minutes to change the tire and be back on the road. Road service could have been hours.
I was lucky to have pulled off at the exit for fuel and noticed the tire missing a 16" piece of tread. My TST 507 Tire Pressure Monitor System will be here tomorrow.
It did very little damage to the TT and still had air in the tire at the pump. It was flat by the time I filled and moved from the pump.
You WILL need a spare......or several on this trip!
Get a spare and practice changing it on flat ground. Things will be considerable different on the side of the road.

Great advice so far! Instead of buying a separate lug nut wrench, can't I just use the one that is in my truck? And then use a torque wrench for putting the back on?

Try it and see with my lug nuts I need a thin wall socket, a 4 way will not fit, I built my own trailer aid out of 1x6" and 2 x6" screwed and glued together I got the pattern to make it from Neil Dunn OC if you don't know his real name. Works great and I carry it on the bumper. Making one you can make sure it will raise it high enough so no jack is needed. Fast and easy to use. As far as the person about a spare, GO BUY ONE....

After reading this thread, I pulled the trailer onto the Trailer Aid and the tire on the other axle didn't come off the ground.

I had to cut two 2x8" to make a riser for my Trailer Aid. I do not even think the other version with the extra inch would have made any difference.

I'm going to buy a spare with a rim for about $70. As far as the trailer aid, I got the plus and it didn't help unless I used 2 2" pieces of wood under the ramp. I'm considering returning it and getting a bottle jack, but I don't think those get it high enough either. Maybe the jury rigged trailer aid is the best option, rather than the danger of jury rigging a jack on wood and being underneath the trailer...
