Cherokee 274DBH

We are almost sold on a 2014 new Cherokee 274DBH that weighs in at 6221 pounds. I have an f150 with the tow pack rated at 8300 max. Would anybody have concerns about this setup?

Hi pirateman. We. Also have the 274dbh and Love It! We ordered ours in Feb and it was delivered in May and we have been going out every other weekend in it. As for your can I pull it question, we tow our 274 with my Jeep Commander 5.7L and it pulls it just fine. We use a ezy lift WDH with a basic sway bar and it stays nice and straight. We live in the bluffs of WI/MN so elevation goes from 400ft to 1600 ft around tight turns and back several times before we hit the expressway and the TT follows excellent. IMO a half ton truck with a V8 can pull this TT without a problem.

Cherokee 274DBH

I pull my '15 Cherokee 274DBH with a '05 GMC Sierra 3500 DRW 4x2 with a 6.6L Duramax and I have absolutely no problems. Mine has a dry weight of 6,306.

A friend of mine pulls his '14 Cherokee 274DBH with a '07 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 with a 5.3 and he struggles with hills and rough roads.

Gave to go ahead today to dealer and should pick it up Thursday. I should have about 2000 pound cushion before I hit max tow capacity. We are in eastern nc and 95%of the trips will be to OBX. The only hill is the bridge. I expect the mountains to be a challenge but that can be for most cars also. Going to add a tuner to help low end torque. Thank y'all for your input.

Thanks for your input steel. I have been up and down about the weight of this with my truck. Of course the wife says I am over thinking. She said most people don't have big truck's to pull travel trailers. Really just want to get it hooked up and see how it feels.

Whys the dry hitch weight on this trailer so heavy...forest rivers website says 906 lbs? Comparable floor plans are in the 600-700 range.

I wondered the same thing when I bought mine. Don't have an answer either.

I wondered the same thing, then I figured it out, the wheels on the cherokee and wolf are set back a little further then other comparable TTs, I guess its for better handling, because I get very little sway when I'm pulling mine.

Don't they realize it kills your payload.

Going from a 2007 27' Heartland Trailrunner 2500BHS to the Cherokee 274DBH I not only noticed the wheels were further back than my Trailrunner, but they were a few inches further apart. Also the axles on my TR were larger and the overall payload of what I could carry was more. The TR was 5825 UWV with a CCC of 4975 pounds. The Cherokee is 6230 with a CCC of 1638 pounds. Not that I would carry an extra 4975 pounds but that says something about materials used in putting these things together. Either way my 2000 F250 CC Super Duty V10 4X4 gets the same gas mileage.
