Cherokee Grey Wolf Factory Tour

Here is a link to view pictures of my recent visit to the Cherokee Grey Wolf factory in Topeka, IN. The day of my visit it was production day for the 26DBH floorplan. So for those of you that own a 26DBH, you can see in detail how your unit was constructed.

Very cool to see the stages of the build in action. Thanks

Nice pictures. Any idea how long it took to build one start to finish?

The line workers move fast! Not one of them were messing around. A unit moved from one work cell to another in 10-12 minutes. It was amazing how fast they put them together. I can't remember how many work cells there were on the production line, but I was told during the tour there were 36 units on the build schedule for that day.

Great pictures! I really like the look of these Grey Wolfs. I think this will be my new RV in summer of 2018.

Even though I have a different model, these pics are helpful - I can see how the internals are routed through the different areas. Gives me a headstart for when I start modding mine in earnest.

Well done. Thanks for posting these. BTW...How'd you get the 'ok' to take pictures? I thought that was a big 'no no' at Forest River assembly sites - ?

I've sent an e-mail their way to ask about tour availability for when my particular model is scheduled to be run again. Will see what they come back with. Appreciate the info on pics vs. video.

Thank you, while my GW is a 23BD this answers some questions for me in the mod departments and where the studs are.

Iím glad the factory tour pics are helpful! The factory is a 2hr drive from my home. I am going again soon as I wasnít able to see some manufacturing steps in detail. I couldnít see how the roof was constructed as that was one major step of the process I wanted to see. Just so busy on the production floor that it was hard to see every detail. Very neat to see in person!

Then I guess I'll be keeping an eye out for more info.

Bringing her home tomorrow, from about 1 hour away. The weather does not look good.

Hopefully I don't have to use your pictures to put it back together!

If my DW sees this she'll get even more nervous.

Thanks again.

Wife and I took the tour last Friday of the Rockwood/Flagstaff line. I highly recommend if anybody gets a chance to do the tour.

super picks. When I did my plant tour it was at the end of the day. Other then a few people cleaning up there were not a lot of workers around. I just got to see the different stations. My actual camper was at the last station being cleaned and rolled off the line while I was there.

Tours usually start around 8:30am and if you wait until 11am there's a good chance you won't get to see the whole process of the build.

How long does it take for one of the 26DBH in the pictures from start to finish?

So in a typical 8 hr day, that would be about 4.5 units per hour. I could see where that would be a factor in the increase in the number of roof membrane failures that seem to be occuring. There's no comparison between the roof on our 2007 Jayco...not a wrinkle or bubble in it when we sold it in 2017. Our 2018 Cherokee...wrinkles and small bubbles everywhere that I check every week. They're just trying to keep up with demand, but I see a decrease in quality as they increase quantity.
