Cherokee Grey Wolf Outdoor Audio

Does anyone know if the outdoor audio on the Cherokee Grey Wolf's is wired or wireless? I am thinking of upgrading my audio system and didn't know how the outdoor audio was connected.

Also for the outdoor speakers, has anyone figured out the depth of the speakers?

Is it a Jensen? I believe all are wired, both if mine were.

your going to have to pull one out and measure how much depth you have available in wall if you are going to shop for upgraded speakers. I just replaced the interior speakers in my 5th wheel. Stepped up to 6 1/2 Kenwoods from the junk 5 1/4s that were in there. WOW, what a difference.

It is not the Jensen. It is the older style one.

And I know the inside depths, just not certain about the outside. I have to cut the caulking from around the speakers. Just hoped to do a plug and play. Which model Kenwoods did you buy?

Kenwood KFC-1665S Sport Series 6-1/2" 2-way speakers at Crutchfield.com

I put these in the living area ceiling. Yes, I realize you will have to break the caulking seal to pull out one of the outdoor speakers, but it's the only way to get the measurements you need to shop for new speakers. I'll be doing it soon, but marine speakers are much more than others.

How much cutting did you have to do to get the bigger size speakers to fit into the ceiling?

Note that you don't need marine speakers. You DO need speakers with specific qualities:
plastic cones not paper...butyl rubber cone surrounds rather than foam. Plastic grills. Polk makes some nice ones in 6.5" and 5.25 that fit the bill...but I agee that the 6.5" are far superior in sound quality and power.

using the template that came with the speakers, cut about 1/2 inch off all the way around

yes and no. Those aren't labeled as "marine speakers" but in the specs they are "marine certified". Thanks for the info. I'll keep these in mind
