That's what I was thinking too. Ours has a white underside but the top is white on the outer edge fading to dark brown near the roof edge. I wish it was all white even though it would show more dirt. We typically use it for shade more than rain shelter. Dark colors definitely absorb more heat.

Yep - we changed ours to a solid black on top and underside to eliminate the yucky white side that was always a PITA to clean

Have not noticed much difference in heat....old one was dark gray on top

Always heard 50% Awesome applied to top side. Roll during application. Leave soak overnight and rinse next day. Presto!

I've used Home Armor EZ House Wash from Lowes or Home Depot, it's worked great on the awning. $8 for the smallest container & sprayer, which is way more than enough.

Do you use the total awesome cleaner full strength or dilute it?

I previously posted this last year:

"...I used Tilex last month on my awning and it was completely clean with no stains what so ever (after cleaning).
After pulling out my awning, I dampened both sides then sprayed it with Tilex, rolled it up for about 10 minutes and rinsed after unrolling. This worked better than any scrubbing I've done in past years. After cleaning, just be sure to let it completely dry before rolling it back up."

Be careful with Awesome. It is a good cleaner and affordable. I used it frequently on our old Mallard to get black streaks off. It took them off all right and the paint. Then I had silver spots!

If you have a product that will take your paint off (product Awesome), I shy away from using it.

DAWN dish soap and hot water works Great....

ARGH!

As many others have said- soap- water and bleach.
I mopped it on with an extension handle car mop.
Do wear rubber gloves as mentioned extended exposure to bleach water will
make your hands peel. I know!!
Wear old clothes, a ball cap, be careful, tilt the awning and work from low
to high so the drips aren't falling right on you. Keep the hose handy so you can rinse yourself if you have an accident.

This chore is a bit of a PIA but will get the job done. Awning always looks nearly new when it's over.

If you do this you might want to consider some chemical resistant goggles as well. Bleach in the eye is not cool at all.

Amen to the goggles. I also wear an old hat and old clothes.... Make the DW happy

BTW, I've found the Magic erasers to be useful in removing those stubborn stains.

If it was horrible, I could see using diluted bleach and water once. But I only use RV products on my RV and that includes the awning. I use the awning cleaner spray, let it set for a few minutes, then gently brush with a car wash brush on an extension pole. It is part of my regular routine so my awning undersides never get nasty.

Ive tried a few of these suggestions before. The only thing that has worked for me is Beach. I just make a mixture of Beach and water 50/50, spray it on the spots, roll up the awning and check every 2-4 hours. Normally takes about 12-24 hours and its clean.
