Double hitch receivers bolted to the bumper

I was wondering, my 2012 28bhks I bought used on Jan of 2018, has a double hitch receivers bolted to the bumper. The double hitch receiver has a htich thing right above to spare tire and one right above the bumper. Is it safe to remove it from the bumper, I have no need for it, and just adds extra weight to the trailer. I'll post a picture later.

Adrian

If it serves no practical purpose and removal doesn't effect anything....I'd just take it off.

I have no use for it and is preventing us from putting sewage hose in the bumper. I will just remove it. Thank you.

Glad to help. Don't need stuff on there that you're not going to use.

Only thing it would be good for anyway would be a bike rack. Even then it probably is only strong enough for one bike.

A double receiver sounds like they used a Swivel Wheel Trailer or a custom made cargo rack.

If you aren't using it, as mentioned- take it off.

I did a closer examination of it, it is bolted to the trailer frame and to the bumper, and the spare tire is attached to it also. So with that said, I guess I can't remove it, unless I don't want to spare.

relocate the spare to an underside winch, then remove the receiver, or at least the one that's blocking the tube. Photos would help.

Post a picture of it and there may be a means of having the spare tire holder on the tube bumper and removing the hitches.

Remove, cut the upper receiver off just above spare tire mount. At least you can get rid of some of it. Or, as someone commented, they make some pretty nice under the trailer carriers for spare tires. Could always look into one of those and lose the dual hitch.

Take all that off and bolt one of these on the tube bumper.

I have the same spare tire holder and have
my sewer tube on the bumper. The sewer tube is 6 inch schedule 40 long enough for 2 25 foot sections of pipe and the connections. I keep nothing poop related in my trailer storage.

I would leave the hitch alone. It do us not look like it is in the way. Who ever had it before you might have used it for a bike rack or something. You will probably will use it in the future.

Anything bolted thru those rear bumpers and not to the frame.....is a Disaster waiting to happen. My BIL will attest to this fact after destroying two bikes when the "Bumper Mounted" bike rack twisted the bumper and the bikes drug down highway for about 20 miles.

I just unbolted that double hitch spare tire holder from the trailer. That thing must weigh at least 200lbs.
