Generator
I have a new 2016 Grey Wolf 23DBH, will a Troy Built 5000watt generator run my A/C and a couple of lights? I was going to try it but thought I'd ask first. Thanks

You will most likely not be able to use it in a campground due to noise. It is a fine construction generator, but not designed for RV use.

Oh My! PLEASE don't do that to your fellow campers.
Unless your at a NASCAR race or boondocking with no one nearby.
That generator will exceed every campgrounds noise level rules.

Haha, no I'm not thinking of using it in a CG, I'm thinking boondocking or during a power outage due to a storm since I live on the gulfcoast.

Then go for it.
You also should check out the Champion line of generators.
Great customer support and generally quieter than other similarly priced open frame generators.

Hello...we are new to the rv world...but happy to be starting out. We have a Forest River RK and are looking for a good generator that we can use in campgrounds and not disturb anyone. We would like to be able to power everything in the trailer...especially the a/c. Any suggestions?

Here is a link to a product review I did for the Yamaha EF2000isV2 inverter generators I bought. Very popular model\solution.

You need to post the brand and model number, not just RK.
Also which a/c does it have 13.5k or 15k? Are there 1 or 2 a/c's?
Then there's getting one bigger and heavier 3000+w one or getting a pair of smaller and lighter 2000w units to parallel them.
Minimum would be a Yamaha 2400, which runs most 13.5 a/c's.
The newest one on the market, which will turn RV'ers heads, is the new Champion 3500w with remote start.
Pay attention to db ratings.

Ok, I have a Troy built 5000watt....6250 starting watts generator.
Using the 25ft cord from trailer and an additional 25ft 30amp ext to a 30 amp adapter for the 4 prong generator plug.
My a/c is 13.5amp.
Keeps tripping the breaker on the generator after a couple of minutes with a/c on and only the refrigerator on inside the TT.
The generator is 7 years old and runs great.
Any suggestions on why it trips the breaker?

Update on post above.
Changed the 30amp adapter out for the 15M / 30F adapter and it works fine.
Used the same adapter on my Honda 2000watt/ 3000starting watt gen and it worked fine also!?
So why wont it work with the 30amp 4 prong adapter?
